ABOUT THE EVENT
Film Screening | Bauhaus Women (2019)
In honor of our special exhibition, In Thread and On Paper: Anni Albers in Connecticut, we will be screening Bauhaus Women (2019), a film by German filmmaker Susanne Radelhof, with English subtitles.
To this day, the Bauhaus is associated with names such as Walter Gropius, Paul Klee, or Oskar Schlemmer. However, in the early founding of the Bauhaus, the promise of absolute equality attracted many women, who, despite serving as pioneers to their fields, have been obscured by their male counterparts, and lost to time. This film explores the stories and work of women such as these, including Alma Buscher, Marianne Brandt, Gunta Stölzl, and more.
There will be two screenings of the film, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Free with Museum admission
