ABOUT THE EVENT
Yankee Doodle Dandy!
Sit back, relax, and join us for a screening of the 1942 classic Yankee Doodle Dandy.
When renowned composer, playwright, actor, dancer, and singer George M. Cohan (James Cagney) is invited to the White House to receive a Congressional Gold Medal from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, he begins to reflect on his life. The film traces Cohan’s rise from a child performing in his family’s vaudeville act to his early days as a struggling Tin Pan Alley songwriter to his later success as a writer, director, producer, and more known for patriotic songs like “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”
