ABOUT THE EVENT
Walnut Hill Jazz: Bennie Wallace Trio
The New Britain Museum of American Art and Hartford Jazz Society are thrilled to present the Walnut Hill Jazz Series, featuring four Wednesday night performances by regional jazz masters in an inspiring setting.
This month the NBMAA welcomes the Bennie Wallace Trio, led by acclaimed tenor saxophonist Bennie Wallace and featuring local jazz standouts, Matt Dwonczyk on bass and Carmen Intorre on drums.
Wallace has performed and recorded with many jazz greats, including Elvin Jones, Tommy Flanagan, and Chick Corea. He even channeled his southern roots by recording with Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The New York Arts Journal said “Wallace's voice strikes one immediately as so individual and secure because he has assimilated the salient traits of every conceivable past and present Jazz style, transmuting them according to his own strong, unmistakable personality . . .”
The show begins at 6:30 p.m.; doors and a cash bar open at 5:45 p.m. Seating is limited; preregistration is recommended.
