ABOUT THE EVENT

Walnut Hill Jazz Series | The Nat Reeves Experience

This January marks the start of the NBMAA's third annual Walnut Hill Jazz Series; in partnership with the Hartford Jazz Society, we present a series of four winter performances showcasing the best regional jazz musicians from Hartford, Boston, New York City, and beyond.

This month, Nat Reeves, the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz Associate Professor of Music in Jazz Double Bass, leads his quartet featuring Josh Burneau, Matt De Champlain, and Kirk Woodard. Reeves began playing bass at the age of 16 and has been deeply involved with music ever since. He moved to New York City at 24 and eventually met his mentor Jackie McLean who would later introduce him to other jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. Reeves continues to play around the world, while teaching the next generation of musicians in Hartford.

Doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 6:30 p.m. Beer and wine bar available for purchase. Preregistration is recommended.
