Artist Statement: By second grade I knew I would be an artist of some kind. Over the years I worked in a variety of creative fields. Out of art school my first job was as a window dresser. Later I art directed for advertising agencies and created Christmas decorations for a client in China. I also designed nature centers and created props for commercials. I constructed three mini golf holes for Real Art Ways and five custom fiberglass cows, plus many other projects. In between assignments, I did my own artwork.
I met Walter Wick at a wedding when the bride said, you two should know each other. That was nearly two decades and nine books ago and it’s been the most fun I have ever had on a job.
I plan to share some of that fun with you on [August 2] when I talk about the process and reveal some behind the scenes photos, as well as props and materials used in the making of the sets.
