Visitors are encouraged to make reservations and pay online in advance; Walk-ins are also welcomed. All groups of over 8 individuals must fill out an Adult Tour Request Form.

All admission tickets are priced at $20 for Adults, $15 for Seniors, $10 for ages 6-17 and college students, free for ages 5 and under, and free for all Members.

Free Saturday Mornings

Saturday admission from 10 a.m. to noon is free due to support from the American Savings Foundation. Please note that groups over 8 are not eligible to receive free Saturday morning admission. Please check in at the Front Desk to receive free admission on Saturday mornings. An option for online pre-registration for free Saturday mornings will be available soon. 

Library Pass
Check with your local library to see if they have a free museum admission pass (up to a group of 4). Show the pass to the Front Desk upon arrival to the Museum (advance registration is not required). Library passes are only valid for visiting the galleries, separate registration for classes, programs, and events is required.

American Alliance of Museums
AAM members receive free Museum admission (in person only).

North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association
Free admission for NARM members.

Bank of America
During the first full weekend of every month, Bank of America offers their valued cardholders free general admission to more than 225 cultural institutions, including the NBMAA. Museums on Us is available to Bank of America, Merrill or Bank of America Private Bank (U.S. Trust) credit or debit cardholders. 

Blue Star Museums (Only from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day)

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN VISITING

Welcome to the NBMAA! We are delighted to offer you and your family much-needed access to our lovely, peaceful galleries. Currently, visitors are encouraged to make online reservations but walk-ins are always welcome

  

Groups

Reservations are required for ANY group of 8 or more. A special self-guided group discount is available at $13 per person. Museum Café

Hours: 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Wednesday-Sunday

The Café offers a selection of delicious grab-and-go options, including locally made sandwiches, salads, pastries, and hot and cold beverages.

ACCESSIBILITY

The Museum is handicapped accessible
A ramp is located to the right of the Museum parking lot leading to the front door. All public levels of the Museum are accessible by elevators and wheelchairs/walkers are available upon request.

Upon entry to the lot, veer to the right.

Regular Parking
Please follow the left hand directional sign. There is additional parking in a lot connected at the back of the driveway (Park Place) and in a lot to the left of the driveway (Lindquist Property at 24 Lexington Street). Also, there is always free street parking on Lexington Street and along the Walnut Hill Park side of the Museum.

The NBMAA has been asked to inform visitors not to park in the lot at the Medical Building, 33 Lexington Street; unauthorized vehicles parked there will be towed at the owner’s expense.

BUS PARKING
There is ample on-street parking for buses nearby.

  • Take Exit 35 (left exit) onto Rte. 72E.
  • Follow signs to New Britain and take Columbus Blvd, exit 1D.

  • Museum and free parking lot are on the left.
  • Take Exit 22N, onto Rte. 9.

Directions via public transportation

Take Metro-North commuter from Grand Central Station to New Haven’s Union Station. From Union Station, travel via Peter Pan bus lines to reach New Britain, CT. Your stop will be at Jimmy’s Smoke Shop at 64 West Main Street. Jimmy’s is approximately ½ mile from NBMAA, within walking distance. From Jimmy’s head west three blocks on West Main Street, turn left on Lexington Street, NBMAA is on the left hand side. The closest Amtrak station is located in Berlin, CT, at 51 Depot Road. You can travel to NBMAA by taxi cab or bus. Buses run from Berlin station to New Britain. For a complete listing of fares and routes please visit: www.nbt.bz/nb_bk_map.pdf. The station is approximately 4 miles from NBMAA.

Amtrak lines run to the Kensington-Berlin Railroad station – though less frequently. You can choose to get off in Hartford and continue to New Britain via bus travel to NBMAA by taxi cab or bus. For Connecticut Transit buses call 860.522.8101 or visit:www.cttransit.com for local bus schedules and routes from Hartford or Kensington to New Britain.

From Schoephoester road, go east toward Light lane and turn right onto Turnpike Road/CT-75 and follow CT-75 south. Next, merge onto CT-20 toward I-91 (Hartford/Springfield). Merge onto I-91 south toward Hartford and merge onto I-84 west/US 6 and take exit 32A toward Waterbury. Merge onto CT-9 South and take exit 39A toward Newington/New Britain. Next, Take exit 28A towards downtown New Britain. Turn right onto East Main Street, take a left onto Main Street, and then turn right onto West Main Street. Lastly, turn left onto Lexington Street and the Museum will be on your left.
