Holiday Decorating

The Holiday decorating committee has been hard at work and is pleased to announce a splendid lineup of trees that will grace the Museum lobby and galleries. Trees boasting reinterpretations of favorites from the collection will be dispersed throughout the galleries, decorated, and crafted by our Holiday Decorating Committee. In conjunction with the debut of our new galleries, the Museum Lobby will feature a 14-foot tree inspired by one of our newest galleries, The Gilded Age. As you explore our expanded galleries you’ll discover our miniature trees scattered throughout, including the inspirations of the Hudson River School, American Impressionism, and Contemporary works. This year, many of our holiday traditions will continue! The second floor will feature the Kwanzaa Tree, decorated with handmade ornaments by artist and docent Loretta Eason. In the Benton Gallery, be sure to check out the brightly colored interpretive tree of the Thomas Hart Benton Murals. Don’t forget to visit the Victorian Charm of the Moser Library, once the dining room for the Landers House, decorated by artist Ken Adams. New this year will be Saturday afternoon tree tours followed by holiday cookies and hot chocolate in the Moser Library to be held on December 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th at 1 p.m. Tours will meet in the Lobby.
