Info & Scheduling
Docent-led Tours
Docent-led tours are one hour in length and are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Groups of up to 100 students can be accommodated at one time. Tours cost $5 per student. Browse our School Tour Themes page for more information.
Self-Guided Tours
Middle and high school teachers with specific lesson plans in mind are welcome to schedule self-guided tours for their classes. These visits are available only during public hours, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and must be booked through the Education Department. Self-guided tours cost $5 per student.
Studio Activities
Teachers may book a studio activity in addition to a docent-led or self-guided tour. Studio activities cost an additional $5 per student. Browse our Studio Activities page for more information.
Chaperones
Groups are required to bring at least one adult chaperone per every ten students, though it is fine to bring more. There is no charge for accompanying adult chaperones.
Check-in
Upon arrival, the coordinator must give the final payment and headcount to the Front Desk. Museum staff will welcome students, discuss proper behavior, take coats and lunches, and match smaller groups with volunteer docents. This check-in process takes about 15 minutes.
Lunch
The Museum does not have lunch facilities. During warm weather months groups are invited to enjoy brown-bagged lunch on Museum grounds or in the adjacent Walnut Hill Park.
Buses
For directions to the Museum and parking information, please click here. There is ample on-street parking for buses on Lexington Street, as well as behind the Museum in Walnut Hill Park, accessible from Park Place (one street east of Lexington Street). Buses may pause in front of the Museum to drop off students before parking.
Accessibility
The Museum is handicapped accessible. A ramp leading to the front entrance is located to the right of the Museum’s parking lot. All public levels of the Museum are accessible by elevators. Please alert us ahead of time if your group has any mobility needs that should be considered.
